A bird’s-eye assessment reveals Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) to have a more story-focused gameplay narrative compared to the sequel. It incorporates unexpected twists and turns that take you by surprise and really invest your attention and emotion in the narrative. sclub88 -Man 2 (2023) is more action-focused, so much so that the cutscenes can feel like a drag. It doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing; rather, it develops a quench of thirst whenever the next action sequence cues in. These specs will let you run the game at 720p with 30 FPS using the Very Low graphics preset.

A highlight, though, is the theme that follows in Kraven’s footsteps, which bears more than a passing resemblance to Howard Shore’s Uruk-hai war march from The Lord of the Rings score. It soundtracks a world that looks stunning, even when played in performance mode at a stable 60fps as I did for most of my playthrough. Rewards for completing these various activities vary, with some ranging from genuinely exciting story teases for what’s to come, to simply gaining some tech parts to upgrade your abilities with. The tasks are often so mundane and repetitive, however, that I did frequently question whether these small, congratulatory nuggets were worth the slog they too often turned out to be.
Insomniac and Sony Interactive Entertainment continue to collaborate on the franchise, releasing the sequel on PS5 platforms. Not only that, but during open-world gameplay, players will be able to freely swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales at the touch of a button, akin to GTA 5’s character-swapping feature. If you don’t already have one of the best gaming SSD options from our buying guide, now would be a good time to upgrade. Despite being a PS5 port, the Spider-Man 2 system requirements can ask a lot of your gaming PC, especially if you want to play at 4K with ray tracing enabled. The web-slingers are back on PC, and while the minimum specs will work for older gaming PCs, ray tracing will require a more powerful rig. As in previous entries in the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, there are plenty of Side Missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that you can complete to engage in unique storylines with various characters, and earn special rewards. Of course, if you’re going to be catching your ray-traced, 4K reflection (if you opt for the 30fps fidelity mode) in that glass so often, you’ll want to look your best.
Primarily a Peter Parker story, Spider-Man 2 explores his relationship with MJ and the reintroduction of childhood best friend Harry Osborne into his life. It’s always compelling to watch him contend with which pieces of the past to leave behind and what future self he wishes to be. In some of the missions where you control normal, everyday Peter, I couldn’t help but feel the Uncharted influence more than ever, both in the techniques it uses to tell his story and the show-stopping action sequences when he slips into the suit.
As Peter goes on a mindless symbiote-induced rampage against the Hunters (even nearly killing Mary Jane at one point), Kraven captures Miles and forces him to fight Li. Miles overcomes his anger towards Li and helps him escape, directing him to find Peter. Despite the disappointment, it’s unlikely that any DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would’ve been very exciting. All of which brings us to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC system requirements, with Sony’s minimum specification targeting 720p at 30fps on Very Low settings.
